About Me
About Me
Just to give you an insight into my marvelousness, I thought I’d give up some information that you may, or may not care to read.
My name is Matt Crawford, 23 years young, I live in Cambridgeshire UK, the world’s wasteland for musical talent. However, I’ve still managed to remain inspired and enthused in my own musical escapades.
Since the age of 15 I’ve had a loving relationship with the guitar. I’ve been playing/writing, both with other musicians in bands, and working on solo projects, as well as teaching on the side. It’s a subject I have endless enthusiasm for and decided to set up this blog in order to pass down some info that I’ve picked up over the years. Reviews, hints, tips, technique - are all things I hope to write about, anything that will help budding musicians along their wonderful stringed adventure.
Influences:
Despite being predominantly from the world of heavy rock and metal I have influences from all over the musical map, including some bassists even.
Having said that my main idols would have to be Dimebag Darrell, Zakk Wylde, Paul Gilbert, Michael Romeo, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Dave Murray, Al Di Meola, John Petrucci, Randy Rhoads, Rich Ward, Tony Iommi, and Marty Friedman to name a few.
Although the majority of these appear to be virtuoso shred masters it’s not the speed and fret-wankery I’m interested in. I’ve never been partial to Malmsteen or Michael Angelo Batio for instance. I prefer originality and thought in music over showing off.
Other Interests:
Computer games, mountain biking, cooking, blowing bubbles with my spit and knocking over old ladies.
